I was goofing around and came across this music blog that listed the ultimate romantic frommage.Link I'm not a big fan of really romantic songs, especially high fat content romantic pop. Who am I kidding. When I hear that stuff I start thinking that I need an insulin shot. But, I had a good laugh reading the list of songs and mostly snickering at the memories I have associated with some of the songs.

Dolly Parton's "Islands in the Stream" made the list. I don't have any romantic connections to this song, but it reminds me of when I was a kid and my brother, sister and I would be sitting in the back of my mom's Chrysler LeBaron while running around doing errands and listening to Dolly Parton on cassette. This was a big step up from riding in the Matador with my Dad and listening to the 8-Track which was usually Cher ("Gypsies, Tramps and Theives"), The Stampeders and The Carpenters. I also have memories of "I Shot the Sheriff." My favorite was the soundtrack to "American Graffiti". I still like "Runaway" by Del Shannon.

If I never hear "Hello" by Lionel Richie or any song from the "Footloose" soundtrack it will still be too soon-- shuddering with Junior High School Horrors.

Anyway, check out the list or feel free to add your own song of cheesy wonderdom. Maybe I'll tell you about my embarrassing moment involving the song "Footloose" and why I don't do aerobics to this day.

Here is my list of 7 most cheeseful songs in my opinion-- Romance Genre.

1. That Titanic Song by Celine Dion. I was really moved the first 100 times I heard it now it's become cringeworthy-- a sure sign of great cheese. I might also feel this way because my husband will sing along with it, including gestures, in public places . Nah. The gestures and his falsetto breathe new life into it. A carmelized brie.

2. Hello. Lionel Richie. No high class brie here. Pure velveeta. I could never stand this song. Not even velveeta. What's that spray stuff that comes in cans? Is that even cheese?

3. Wind Beneath My Wings, Bette Midler. Great for cheesy quotes in hallmarky real-life moments. "Don't you know you are my hero?" Maybe a cheddar.

4. Lady In Red, Chris de Burgh. I loved "Don't Pay the Ferryman" But "Lady in Red" was/is one of those songs that's a deal breaker for me. Gah! Run for the hills or the washroom. Ask me to dance to this song and I know the guy is not right for me. Definitely spray cheese. Some might even say a stinky Stilton... but I like Stilton cheese.

5. Air Supply. Any Air Supply song. Really.

6. BeeGees. I can't remember the name of any song they did except for Saturday Night Fever and I heard a fun rap cover of it... by the romance stuff. Wow. Some notes only dogs can here. Spray Cheese with the can hissing and spitting out high notes.

7. Nikita. Elton John. Liked it at first, but the video killed this song for me. Maybe a Gouda.

8. "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" from "The Lion King". Another Gouda.

9. Just because I'm on a roll now. Anything, and I mean anything, by Chicago. Not even cheese. Just that powdery stuff they put on crackers or chips.

Why does it seem like all of the most cheesy love songs are from the 80's.  Well I have decided to add my own genre which is the "they aren't really heavy metal bands if they sing a ballad".  I already saw Poison on there to get me going.

Bon Jovi - I'll be there for you (these five words I swear to you, when you breathe I want to be there for you) - a cheesy poof

Cinderella - Don't know what you got til it's gone - a little more substance - maybe a party cheese ball

Firehouse - Love of a lifetime - a stinky cheese
