(Cicadas....ew!)  The only real way to get all the dirt up, is to sweep, then use a wet rag, mop, paper towel, get on hands and knees and start wiping.  Also, if you water from a standing position dirt will splash onto the floor.

I am intrigued about your home.  Maybe you could take some pics of the local community, inside your home?

How is life different in Japan (the daily stuff..eating, commuting, etc) compared to the States.

I'm very curious and looooove picutres.

I actually remember thinking she wasn't evil but had a darkness around her-- not trouble for me but not to take lightly either. I guess that could be said for a lot of people.

Amazing. Makes me want to see into the other dimension and principalities....but then maybe not if the cost is my sanity...because I don't know how you could see that kind of stuff and stay sane.

Aside from my black thumb, I do love to read about different plants. One recent reading was on various fruit bushes and trees that do well in containers. I had no idea there were dwarf blueberry shrubs that do well in warm climates like San Diego! When I get back to the US I am getting a few for the patio. Herbs are great because they have wonderful odors.  I don't have an herb garden because

1.  I don't use them enough to warrant all the work in my garden

2.  While I love the smell, I like to keep my sweet flower smells and more organic spicy smells separate.  I'm just weird that way.

I've been hearing about the shenanigans off and on from my mother. She watches NHK News daily. I am not surprised at all about this tax and the LDP needs to be tossed out on its ear. This should about seal their fate.

As for the government crying that they need the money... Waaaaaah! My memories growing up include the seemingly ritual demolition of roads, many that had spent a good part of the year torn up, starting in October that would last to the end of the year. Why is this? There was excess money in the coffers for road work that didn't get used so it had to be spent before the end of the year or funding would be reduced/diverted the next year. (Wow...run on sentence to the max.) I think people my age are really going to have to undergo a huge paradigm shift.

You're right.  We really are used to getting whatever we want at least in the U.S.  We expect the shelves to be stocked and complain about the prices being too high.  I do think that ethanol being made from grain is a huge mistake.  I know that legislation has already been passed to eventually make the shift to using the corn stalks and inedible parts of corn or sawgrass.  Of course, the rising corn prices and subsidies ensure that farmers are planting more corn but then they are planting less wheat.  Corn going in our gas tanks instead of peoples bellies just seems wrong to me.  Here everything is still available but there has definately been a noticeable price increase on milk, eggs and meat.
