Tokyo, Procrastination

So here I am scanning some slides and blogging while I'm waiting for them to be done.

Really, I should be doing some math. I guess I will start that at 9. I will probably enjoy it once I get into it. I also have to make a spreadsheet tonight. Not a big deal, but I will have to pull out hubby's old laptop since my home version of XP doesn't have excel. What was I thinking when I bought this software bundle? Anyway, his OS is in Japanese. I think I remember where most of the buttons are so I won't actually have to do too much translating.

Photography has been going well. This is nice because two weeks ago I was getting frustrated. I was trying to develop my own B&W film and screwed it up by not rolling it properly onto the reel. That cheezed me off as I thought I had done my best job on it ever. The film was touching other parts of the film so I got blotchy, droopy negatives. They don't even look warped funky. They just look stupid. Anyway, it was only two wasted rolls but I was quite keen on them as I actually travelled somewhere to shoot them. And again, oh well. It was only two hours. I'm more bummed about the plum blossoms since they are over now.

The slides from the plum blossom trip came out quite well.

I did two stock photo shooting sessions. I'm going to send in the photos and see what the photo editor says. Very likely, I'm still needing to work on my technique and get things organized a bit better. I'm working with some people I know who volunteered to be models so it has been an interesting learning curve for all of us.

I learned:
1. Bring some style neutral clothes for the model to wear. Since it's stock photos nothing should be too trendy
2. Bring some makeup for the model
3. Bring a blanket in case it gets cold or you need something like a shawl for clothes.

I am a great believer in sweaters. I love em. I also have two or three magic sweaters that have looked great on everyone who has tried them on. Now I will have to find magic t-shirts as it will only get hotter from here.

It was fun styling people. Not that I am some great fashion icon but I have an idea of what I want my photos to look like so... But in general I like picking out clothes for people. I would have loved to be a professional clothing shopper for people. If anyone has read "Confessions of a Shopaholic" by Sophie Kinsella, you know what I mean. I'm also a late bloomer for make up. I didn't get into it until I came to Japan. Sadly, I'm still useless at hair. Now that my straight perm has grown out and it's long enough to scrape into a straggly bun at the back of my head, guess what my daily hairstyle is like!
