TAKE WHAT YOU CAN! GIVE NOTHING BACK!!!

-Jack Sparrow, Treasure Island

I was at Karaoke last night (dang delayed action chu-hai--- an alcoholic drink) and suddenly roared this out. Not due to the chu-hi (that kicked in as I was on the train home), but just out of exuberence.

Then it struck me how much I like that phrase and realized I was going to adopt it for a bit. Take it for a test spin on the road of life, if you will.

Not that I have any desire to take other people's belongings. In fact, as I am in the middle of a declutter, the LAST thing I want is more stuff... Ok, I really want this cute pair of shoes that looks like they won't kill my feet but you can't really count that.

I see this in terms of a life metaphor for going out and grabbing experience rather than waiting for things to happen to me.

HA! That experience is MINE now and you can't take it back! Har Har! (said in pirate-y type voice).

I also have this longing to have a parrot. Rather unrelated to the pirate thing but I have less chance of getting a parrot then I do a pup.

Anyhow, what words are people at JU living by at the moment?

funny. I want to go karaoke. I haven't been in a long time. I need a karaoke friend who will go with me whenever I want. Too bad you live so far away. So do you sing in Japanese or English? Just wondered. And why not get a parrot?

Mostly I sing in English, but lately I have been singing a song called "Morai Naki" by a Taiawanese singer (singing in Japanese) named Hitotoyo. (probably I spelled it wrong, but I don't know where the kanji breaks off.) I did some rockin' versions of "Hey Ya" by Outkast, "The Hell Song" by Sum 41. I'm pretty sure I shocked my co-workers.

My friend in CA sings Pat Benetar at Karaoke. I laughed my butt of because I did, too.

Too bad you live so far away. Hmmmm.... maybe we can do a JU Karaoke challenge!

My other phrase du jour might be...

"Not the gumdrop buttons!"

-The little gingerbread man Shrek

But one MUST do in in the little gingerbread man voice or it doesn't have the same effect.
Ready everyone? All together now!
"Not the gumdrop buttons!"
There... now don't you feel better?

I loveeeeeeeeeeeeee karaoke I used to go 4 nights a week. I"ve since stopped but I miss it so. As for a phrase to live by, I"ll stick with Hakunh Mattata.. NO WORRIES

I have a fear of things that flap (best not to ask) so a parrot would be out of the question! I'm not really a animal person anyway. I barely manage to keep myself alive....

The words I live by are "Treat others, how you would like to be treated yourself" That way you can't go wrong!

I love karoke, though I am a terrible singer. I love singing, singing just doesn't love me

I'm pretty sure karaoke is Japanese for "revenge for Hiroshima". Can't stand it.

As for mottos, mine is...Relax
