A fairytale utopia of what if technology...

How much money gets spent on war? God only knows. I often think that they should just chuck the whole lot of that money into R&D for alternative energy sources. First of all, it would get rid of any reason to fight over fossil fuel related energy resources. Probably something other resource will be squabbled over, but it would be nice if it were not oil and gas. Then again, once the world starts fighting over water, people will probably be saying, "Remember the good ol' days when people just used to fight over oil?" and finish with a nostalgic chuckle.

Secondly, I happen to believe in global warming. Wouldn't it be nice if we had some kind of technology that didn't contribute to the problem?

And yes, if only we could harness all those devious little (or great) minds out there creating and funding various weapons of mass destruction and other fun little ways for us to exterminate ourselves and use them for the powers of good? There's no way that somebody wouldn't come up with something.

Oh, well. We'll probably wipe ourselves off the face of the earth leaving it all open for the insects to evolve. I hope they'll not be the wingless kind, so they won't be compelled to produce massive transport systems for themselves.
