Tokyo, Procrastination

I started this article a while ago but then I accidentally zipped it off the screen. Hopefully, this article will make it to the post. Actually, I'm writing this as I watch game 3 of the World Series. I've been following the Red Sox for most of the year.

Big news number 1: my husband and I bought a house. It's not too far from the apartment we were living in. It's one of a bunch of houses built by the same architect/dsigner. It's not a big house compared to what one could own back home, but it's got three floors and two bathrooms. My legs were killing me with using the stairs for the first two weeks. The third floor is a bedroom and bathroom. Second floor is kitchen, living room. A fairly large balcony is off the lving room. It is big enough for a table and two chairs and some extra space. We have been enjoying breakfast and coffee breaks outdoors. The first floor has two rooms (a guest room and my "atelier") bathtub/wash room and toilet. Often toilets get their own seperate space here.

The house is kind of triangle shaped because the land is not rectangular. It sounds strange, but of all the houses here, I really liked the flow of space in this house. There is a small car-port but since we don't have a car it is just holding our bicycles. There is no lawn or garden, but I've never been much of a gardener. Honestly, I am kind of glad. It ends up being less stuf to have to buy and do. I can get my green thumb fix by growing a kitchen garden in a pot on the balcony.

News 2: my sister had a baby. It is the first one for either my brother sister or I. I've only seen pics but he looks cute.

News3: My summer holidays. Went to Canada to visit my folks, travelled to Victoria and attended my great aunt's 90th birthday party. I drove out to Victoria and back with my brother. Some good times. It was the first road trip with my brother and really the first time we have spent so much time together since I went away to college. I was really grateful for the time and to discover that we get along so well.

News 4: Conferences! RWA Nationals in Dallas (learned a LOT) and Sience Fiction World Con in Yokohama. I volunteered for World Con and had a great time. I met some great artists and some interesting authors. I went to hear George Takei speak. I LOVE his voice. I told a friend of mine that George Takei could read my the phone book anytime. My friend said, "But he's gay!" My response was, "That doesn't have to stop him from reading the phone book." If you haven't checked out Star Trek New Voyages then get your browser over there! "World Enough and Time" was shown at World Con and it was really good. I'm disappointed that the New Star Trek movie won't be staring the guy who played young Sulu.

News 5: I'm back with the subsitute teaching. I guess that isn't really interesting news, but I wasn't doing any subbing during the summer.

News 6: I have created another new clay character and have storyboarded a short movie for him. I probably will wait until I get a new computer. I'm planning on getting a Mac before Christmas. My computer is short on RAM for the stuff I want to do. Also, my movie program (Pinnacle 7) is annoying me. I have to do some kind of update to get DVDs burned but everytime I do it there is somekind of error. Also, it makes a really small screen size for the movie and that is annoying to me. It won't even create a CD that I can play on computers here. Tres annoying.

I guess that's about it!

If you have been following my blog, you may know about Estello. I have a new post up for him and will have pics from this summer up today. Estello climbing rocks, Estello with cows and Estello in Dallas and Victoria. Next week I hope to have a post and pics of Estello at World Con standing with a Klingon. If you want to check out Estello go to this link: http://estelloproject.blogspot.com/Link Link
