Tokyo, Procrastination

Writing has been stalling a lot lately. It could have something to do with holding down a full time job, trying to prepare for a Japanese proficiency test and still spend time with hubby. Still, you gotta do what you gotta do.

To kick start my procrastination habit I decided to enter a small writing contest. No big eal, write the next chapter 1000 word limit. In one respect, it was great. I whipped off 2000 words, trimmed to 1200. The next day, I am still trimming. I double-checked the rules one more time because I now had a 1 hour deadline. And that's when I notice it I'm frantically trying to meet a dealine that happened last week.

I could be disappointed (all the wasted effort and what not) but I'm not. I have my work that I can compare to when the winner comes out. So, I'm further ahead for next time. I had a friend read some of my work to check for logic, It's a big step to show someone I know my stuff grammar and spelling. I gave myself a little confidence boost. I CAN write if I just stick my butt in the chair and focus. I didn't even get to qualify for a prize, but damn! I'm proud of myself.

The secret trick for me? I think it has to be creating a sense of urgency.

Well, gotta go. Japanese lesson coming up. Because I'm feeling so up today, hugs and kisses for all! mu-WAH!
