Tokyo, Procrastination
10 Years!

I just got back from a week-long trip to Prague with my husband.  We took the trip to celebrate our tenth anniversary.  I'm pretty happy that we've made it to ten, and we spent a long time debating about wether we should go or not.

We booked our tickets and thought we were safely ready.  No such luck.  One day during house cleaning, I decide to check our passports to double check that our passport expiry dates are no problem.  Lucky I did.  My husband's passport expired a few days after we were due to get back, but entry requirements are that the passport is valid for three months after entry.  As we only had 10 days before our trip, we had quite a scramble to get everything organized.  The passport came in three days before we were due to leave.

Prague was great.  It is what I imagine European cities to look like.  Lots of old buildings and different types of architecture.  I don't know why I found Prague to be more so than Vienna or Munich but I did.  I went to Vienna and Munich and Rotterdam and Wiesbaden about 12 years ago with my husband while we were dating.  Rotterdam has a lot of old buildings, but the old part is more touristy than a living city.

I took about 700 pictures, but I shot them all in RAW format so it is taking forever to upload them.  I was pretty excited about my pictures at the time but now that I look at them, they are kind of boring and touristy.  I think I need to be in a place for quite a while before I can get that touristy type of photography out of the way.  Another good thing is that we both went there to look around.  I took a lot of pictures and my husband carried most of my gear.  How lucky can a girl get?  We didn't get much in the way of souveniers.  I bought a few postcards and bookmarks for friends.  It seemed like the main gifts were shirts that said "Prague Drinking Team" or crystal.  Neither or which is really something any of my friends would like.  I thought about buying some Absinthe for people, but I wasn't sure if it was legal in Japan or not.  Ok.  I just googled it.  Seems like you can get Absinthe here so glad I didn't bother.

It rained almost everyday while we were there.  Fortunately, most of the rainy days included a small part of the day where the sun peeped through the clouds.

The food was pretty good.  Then again, I really like my carbs and protein so this cuisine is a pretty good match for me.

Maybe someday I will have pictures.

Thanks on the Passport news! I did not know that. My wife and I often go to Mexico, and next year they are requiring passports. Ours do not expire until 2010, but I will make sure to renew early.

Never been to Prague, but I like Munich (although the "old part" is being taken over by the newer arthitecture). Could be the beer that makes the city so memorable.
