Tokyo, Procrastination
Windows woes and the nasty editing program that came with my video camera

I decided to make a video for my Grandpa to show him about what it is like living in Tokyo. I went out, got my video camera and started recording. I got a Sony digicam. Generally I like the machine quite a bit. I even read the directions before I started which made it a little easier to catch on. Still took me a bit though because I'm not so hot with following instructions (making origami is COMPLETELY beyond me).

So great, I have my footage. Now it's time to edit! Not great. The native program for the handicam PIXELAE or something is awkward as all get out. Why is it that a program doesn't do what I think it should be able to do? For example, if I put a title on a section of footage, why can't I choose how long that footage appears on the screen? If anyone knows how to change this, please let me know. Do I keep having to add the title page to that footage? Oh and yeah, the capture environment will not allow me to add any music that didn't come with the program. Well, I can capture the music in analog but then when I play the video, there is no music. And the music that comes with the program sounds like I am at the circus. Now that music may suit living in Tokyo to some extent, but that is NOT the image I want to convey.

Is there a better video editing program out there that won't cost me heaps of cash?

My co-worker has offered to let me use his Mac to edit the video. I am thinking of doing exactly that.
