I had an awesome photography class tonight. We went to a jetty just outside Tokyo Disney Sea that looks across Tokyo Bay towards Rainbow Bridge and Tokyo Tower. Tonight was a fireworks festival that went on for an hour and a half. The spot was quite isolated as it was far from the action and not one of the "designated" viewing spots. The major advantage was being away from the crowd and not getting jostled or knocked around or just having general stress by being surrounded by thousands of people. Lots of girls were wearing yukata (summer kimono made of cotton) and some guys were wearing a male version of the outfits.
I rented a 100-400 mm lens so that I could get better detail of the fireworks so it wasn't so bad being so far away. It's a pretty heavy lens though so while it was fun to rent, I don;t think I will be saving money to buy one of my own.
I shot three rolls of provia 100F, one roll of b/w (fuji accross) and one roll of color negative.
I'm really looking forward to getting the stuff developed. I hope I got some good shots. I used 10 second exposures and covered the lens up between bursts so that the light wouldn't turn the image more like a daylight photo. (bad explanation, sorry) I will try to fix it later.
Really warm night, nice breeze to keep us from getting too hot.
I had one wierd experience though. A praying mantiss landed on me. It was huge! It was as long as my forefinger!
