I had an awesome photography class tonight. We went to a jetty just outside Tokyo Disney Sea that looks across Tokyo Bay towards Rainbow Bridge and Tokyo Tower. Tonight was a fireworks festival that went on for an hour and a half. The spot was quite isolated as it was far from the action and not one of the "designated" viewing spots. The major advantage was being away from the crowd and not getting jostled or knocked around or just having general stress by being surrounded by thousands of...
Here are some images I've managed to capture-- accidentally at first....
Okay, I finally figured out how to link pictures to JU (thanks to Jamie Burnside and Little Whip), but most browsers can't read anything from the kodak ophoto. Which online photo service do you use? Do you like it? What is good/bad about it? I am anxiously awaiting your opinions!
Lots of work today and I even found time to develop a roll of film. I finally got two rolls of film onto their respective reels. The one I thought I screwed up ended up being the one that worked best. Biggest problem: I dropped the can and one reel came half out and chemical everywhere. So I have one roll of film that only has half the picture on each frame. Luckily, that was the roll which didn't wind up so well. Tomorrow, more work on the clay animation! okay, this is cheesy, ...
Glossy? Semi-matte? Matte? "Real" photography printing paper or regular paper? What about fibre printing? It all depends on your purpose and what you want your picture to look like. Of course, budget plays a part. Photoshop User Magazine did a great article in their Jan/Feb 2005 issue. The article is called, "The Paper Mill" by Daniel M. East. The article doesn't talk about different types of papers. It's about tests on glossy papers according to the following criteria: accuracy

I love printing in the darkroom. Ok, it's dark and that can be a little annoying, but I like all the fiddling that goes with creating a good print. Maybe there is some part of me that likes playing with chemicals, although, I sure don't like getting them on me. I don't have my own darkroom yet. I've been using the one at school after I finish my classes and prep. It is really nice to create something before going home. I like doing the test strip, dodging, burning, flashing... all good...
April 27 was International Pinhole Day. Note that I wrote Pin HOLE not Pin HEAD (I read somewhere that Pinhead Day is the 29th). How many of you got your pinhole cameras out? I missed it, but better late than never. A great example of pinhole can be seen here. It's a flickr group for pinhole that really inspires me to try it. This person has beautiful work. I've been interested in Pinhole photography for a while. I've seen some amazing wo...
Tomorrow is payday! Whew. For a long time, I've been wanting to get a flash for my camera. I have a couple of shots I really like, but I needed just a smidge more light to make them better. I've been doing a lot of research about using a strobe and the best site I've found is www.strobist.com. Lots of really useful and fun information. I've decided to get a third party flash since the Canon is just too far out of my price range. I decided on the Sigma Super 500 (probably got the ...
I went to Hong Kong almost two years ago. It was great fun. It was hot and muggy and I hardly saw a blue sky but I loved the energy.
